Design Process

At the core of our designs is sustainability for coastal environments. We do not specialize in any one particular style and are flexible to create a garden that is the style that is right for you. Personalized design to fit the architecture of your home, maintenance commitment, and aesthetic.

Design is a process we go through together to arrive at a plan you can love and also maintain. Explore what you want and emerge with a plan to communicate to potential installers as you enter the bidding and estimation phase.

  • A short Zoom or phone meeting to discuss the property, priorities, timing, and likely project scope. A follow-up proposal outlining estimated cost of landscape design process.

  • Visit the property and walk through with client, identify major opportunities and constraints, take site photos, measure existing features, analyze soil, sand, wind, sun and overall site conditions.

  • Create basemap. May include in-house or shared conceptual designs, plant palette alternatives, precedent images for inspiration and feedback on vibe.

  • The concept design is refined and a more detailed preliminary design or series of design revisions are created. Client reviews in-person or via video consult every step of the way.

  • Clients receive the drawings and information needed to price and build the project.

  • Coyote Gardens can assist with contractor coordination and answer questions during bidding and construction.
